This is a great addition to our Thomas library. The close ups are nothing short of spectacular. Outdated now, but not a bad reference book to have. Beth is the female equivalent of 'the big man on campus', most folks know her, like her or admire her'. It's not for the elderly alone. His second gift is that he is highly introspective and willing to share his innermost personal problems as he describes his deconversion journey away from religion.His tale itself is not necessarily unusual, but rarely do we come across an author capable of expressing his emotions so intimately. The dominance of Hidden Markov Models and Linear Predictive Coding had been clear by then, for practical, near-realtime ASRs.There is reference in several sections to the high speed microprocessors and cheap memory and disk space that made all this possible. Order this book only if you want things to heat up in a hurry, and to last a lifetime.Six stars (if they had the option)..
